Registration and Subscription
On this page you will find guidance on how to register, subscribe to email notifications and manage your account.
How do I register?
You will find a “sign in” button at the top right of every page on the ESO Data Portal (unless already signed in).
If you click this button it will take you to the log in page where you can sign in using an existing account or register for a new account.
Registration is simple and can be done with just a couple of clicks. To make registration as straightforward as possible, we are supporting registration via four popular single sign-on providers (GitHub, Facebook, Google and Microsoft). If you have an existing account with one of these providers, you only need to click the associated button on the registration page and then authorize the associated permissions.
What does an account let me do?
Having an account will allow you to subscribe to notifications for datasets of interest and notifications for new datasets. Subscribing to a specific dataset will mean that you will get an Email and SMS notification within 15 minutes of the dataset being updated. Subscribing to new datasets will enable you to receive email alerts when a new dataset is added to the ESO Data Portal.
How do I subscribe via e-mail?
Once registered and signed in, on datasets that are available for subscription you will be able to see a button on the datasets which are available for subscription on the individual dataset page:
Clicking this button will subscribe you to any updates within that dataset. You can also search for datasets to subscribable datasets by searching with the subscribable tag on the dataset search page:

How do I subscribe via SMS?
To subscribe to SMS notifications please vistit your dashboard then click on “Settings” and then choose the “profile” tab.
You can now click on the “Add phone number to send notifications” button and then fill out your UK mobile phone number using countries prefix followed by the number without the 0 e.g. +447123456123 and click on Get a one-time passcode:
Once you confirm the OTP, your number will be added to your profile and it will be enabled to receive SMS notifications.
You can now look for datasets to subscribe by searching with the “subscribable” tag or “sms” tag on the dataset search page:

You can toggle the SMS function to start receiving SMS alerts.
NOTE: The SMS subscription is available only for a limited number of datasets. To find which datasets are available for SMS subscription please click here.
How do I unsubscribe?
To unsubscribe you can either click the same button you used to subscribe, which will now be labelled “unsubscribe” or you can manage your subscriptions in your dashboard, which is explained below.
How do I view/manage my subscriptions?
Once signed in you can visit your dashboard page to see all your active subscriptions:

You can also find this page by clicking your username in the top right of any page (once signed in). The dashboard will allow you to see when the datasets you have subscribed to were last updated and navigate to those datasets. On the settings page of your dashboard, you can also quickly toggle subscriptions for datasets you have subscribed to on and off:

How do I delete my account?
In the settings page navigate to the “Profile” option in the left hand menu, then click the delete my account button. This will remove all of your subscriptions and your contact details from our database.
